100 Jahre IfS - Feministische Geschichtsschreibung

Anlässlich der 100-Jahr-Feierlichkeiten des Instituts für Sozialforschung widmet sich eine Gruppe von Forschenden am Institut auf
Vorschlag von Sarah Speck und Beschluss des Kollegiums einer anderen Geschichtsschreibung des IfS. Beleuchtet werden die Biographien und Beiträge von Forscherinnen sowie feministische Arbeiten und Wissensbestände am Institut, die in der bisher dominanten Geschichtsschreibung nicht vorkommen. Das Projekt verdeutlicht Mechanismen der Verunsichtbarung im Kontext androzentrischer Wissenschaftspraxis, aber auch, dass das IfS von Beginn an weibliche Wissenschaftlerinnen in die intellektuelle Arbeit eingebunden und gefördert hat. Aufgrund seiner institutionellen Unabhängigkeit war das IfS einer der zentralen Orte der Entwicklung der Frauen- und Geschlechterforschung in der Bundesrepublik. Heute sind feministische Perspektiven fest in der Forschungsarbeit des Instituts verankert.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Institute for Social Research (IfS) and at the proposal of Sarah Speck and decision of the College, a group of researchers at the Institute is working on a different historiography of the IfS. It highlights the biographies and contributions of contributions of female researchers as well as feminist work and and knowledge at the Institute, which are not included in the dominant historiography. The project points to mechanisms of invisibilization in the context of androcentric scientific institutions and practice, as well as to the fact that the IfS has promoted and included female scholars in its intellectual work from the very beginning. Because of its institutional independence, the IfS has been one of the central places for the development of Women's and Gender Studies in the Federal Republic. Today, feminist perspectives are solidly anchored in the research work of the institute.
